The owner of Flighty Fowl wanted a cartoon mascot and a bold brand to make a splash in Colorado Springs. The challenge came in differentiating Flighty Fowl from the many competitors in the area.
We went through quite a few concepts and landed with the bold orange and yellow gradient, the flighty fowl with an aviator helmet, and a splash of decorative font.
The gradient of yellow and orange stood out from the sea of red themed trucks, and the family guy style of cartoon added a bit of fun and humor to the brand that has held its uniqueness in Colorado Springs.
This brand was built to be fun, engaging, eye-grabbing, and of course, BIG.
I created the identity with those words in mind - the typography was the largest challenge. The owner wanted to incorporate a fun script, legibly. In order to contribute to this larger than life brand, the main font that came to mind was to resemble the front cover of a magazine or new paper. I settled on this tall demanding font, and worked in the thick script to accent it.
As soon as the cartoon style was chosen, the pattern fell right into place. The personality was to be energetic, humorous, and mouth watering.
The best of the west wing fest winner got a brand that reflects their award winning wings.
Flighty Fowl's most important asset is of course their truck. The next, the website.
They needed to show their wing enthusiasts where they will be and their rotating menu. Due to the inherent mobility of their business, this site needed to be mobile optimized and easy to navigate for users. We utilized a dynamic QR code in their truck wrap that lead directly to the menu for ease of use to the customer.
We also linked in a Google Calendar so users could easily navigate to the current location of the truck by following the Google Link to Maps and speeding their way to wing heaven.
This site was made to be user-friendly, interactive, and mobile responsive.
