Competitor Research: I began this process by looking at the other festivals in their area. They specified wanting to stick out and not go the "traditional farm" route. I saw a lot of farm fields, cows, and greens being used in these brands.
Branding Development: Next was sketching out a few ideas that incorporated the elements they mentioned, but stood out from their competitors. I used Adobe Fresco to create the illustrated elements and illustrator to put it all together.
For the color palette I went with a strong gold that spoke to the sunny days in Florida, a teal to represent the coast, and a blue to bring it all together. The badge style made it simple for them to use across a wide range of marketing materials while keeping the different illustrative elements in tact.
This brand was a lot of fun to develop and went through quite a few alterations. The above three items were heading down the right track, but ultimately lead to printability and readability issues. The final version prints well, is easy to read, and allows you to discern the symbolism easily without it feeling too crowded or overwhelmed.
