Problem: The biggest issue HW encountered with their business was showcasing all they had to offer, and quoting out projects.
Solution: A site that had multiple galleries categorized by their pages, as well as a full gallery with filters. This allows users to see specific items throughout their site, as well as go straight to a full gallery to see all the projects the woodshop had recently completed. The quoting process was difficult for them to keep up with. Clients didn't understand all their options such as different wood types, stains, epoxy, logo engravings, etc. In order to assist clients through this process, I decided to place a wood species page on the site. This helps clients look at both the finished and raw wood. Next, was to have a bit more of an involved quote form - without overwhelming the potential client. In future, we are looking at also adding Epoxy Color Swatches to further help clients see their options.
Hemingway Woodshop is owned and operated in Eagan, MN. The owner wanted to touch on the handmade nature of the work, as well as the home being Minnesota. Thanks to the great Paul Bunyan being a classic household name in Minnesota, I opted to go with the lumberjack being the face of this local business. In order to push the handmade touch, the logo contained a hand planer. These elements together created a handmade, professional brand, that showcased a Minnesota background.
This site was published September 2nd, 2025 and they have reported a 12% higher conversion rate. This conversion stat is based on visitors to the site that filled out their quote form.
