Process Overview

Audience Research: We began this project by looking at the target audience. It was important to Chef that we established a crowd that would not only enjoy the amazing wings, but the overall humor and life behind the brand. In order to understand that audience better, I took a look at Google Trends in their area, social media insights, and their competitors. This helped inform our brand.

Design Ideation: The next step was creating the overall brand. In addition to business cards, menus, and a website - they needed a truck wrap that would stick out in a crowd and be recognizable on the road.

Prototype: After we settled on the brand, I prototyped their site in Figma so we could establish the right flow for users and catch any potential user frustrations before taking it live. They opted to have friends and family overview the prototype to inform us of any frustrations before launch.

Build: This would be a self-managed site for this business. Because of this, they wanted a user-friendly platform that would be simple for them to manage in-house. They opted for wix so we could maintain complete design control, rather than reverting to a template build.

Ideation

We went through a few different styles for this brand before settling on the family-guy-esq cartoon. One of the top competing options was a Charlie Brown style cartoon - a little more whimsy. In the end, Chef liked the boldness of the family-guy styled cartoon.

The brand and their site officially launched in the Spring of 2021. They went on to win "best wings of the west" multiple years in a row and continue to self-manage the site.
