Research: I began the process by having Cuyuna answer my branding questionnaire which included naming their top competitors, their visual preferences for a brand, and what challenges they were trying to overcome in their market.
Brand Direction: The next stage was uploading inspiration and a brand direction to see if we were on the same page prior to the development process.
Brand Development: Once the direction was approved, I began to develop their entire brand which included iconography, typography, color palette, logo design and variants.
Web Prototype: The brand was finalized - what followed was creating their website prototype in Figma.
Web Development: Once the prototype was approved, I developed their website in Figma - optimizing it across 5 breakpoints.
Cuyuna wanted to have a more vintage look to their brand and wanted to steer away from the yellows used in most electric company brands. They wanted to have elements in the logo that spoke to both the energy and electric services they provide. To achieve the rustic feel, I created the texture layover for the logo and other graphic elements. This is a vector texture so scalability wouldn't be an issue. The palette is bold, but contains a dulled style to maintain the vintage vibe they wanted. Their brand pattern was taken from solar panels and the main logo identifier is an Edison style light-bulb rather than a lightning bolt which was used far too much in this industry.
This was a fun brand to take in a vintage direction. They definitely stand out in their market with this brand and their website has helped them generate an average 17% more leads each month.
